Starry night

This song sings my memories of a starry night in a summer day.

Ingredients of this potion : “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” my childhood memories, summer sounds, Starry night over the Rhone by Van Gogh, fireworks on july 14th in France…

  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

In the middle of the song, you’ll notice a passage that was inspired by this English lullaby. One says this song was written for the first time by Mozart or it is an English folk song. But I just discovered that it was created in the 18th century in France. I really like its simple but beautiful and soft melody. (source : wikipedia) Continue reading

Like the sea

Scenery Wave

We are now in the summer (in France). It’s not usually my favourite season, but after having a gloomy spring this year, I’m finally happy to see the summer coming in Paris.

These days, as my philosophy changes: Pursue your dream, enjoying each present moment, I’m trying to appreciate the beauty of each season. It clearly helps to pass hot summer days easier.

Summer makes me think of the sea. My country (South Korea) is surrounded by the sea, and with my family I used to spend summer vacations in the seaside.

Yes, you guess it! The 4 songs I’ll present you today are about the sea. Continue reading

Dancing dog (Original version)

panoramaToday’s song is delight and joyful. It’s inspired by our loyal friends, the dogs.

Here is the story behind this song : I wanted to make a song with this kind of rhythm, which  may make you think of The Sting’s main theme song “The Entertainer”. My song is less fun than Entertainer’s but more lovely!

Then, I started to look for inspirations that can suit this kind of rhythm, and I thought of dogs who are always delight and happily running everywhere. Continue reading

Looking for you, A man’s desperate heart

Solip’s note: Sorrow is part of our life and our emotions; it’s also my source of inspiration. Voilà, today, my song is sad. It makes you think of a film noir… If you don’t want to listen to this song, I can understand it, you come by here to relax with my melodies, so I ask you to wait for the next post. I promise you that next time I’ll present something happy.

I. About the song
Starry_Night_Over_the_Rhone 400x250會者定離. This four character Chinese idiom means nothing is eternal in human relationships. You meet someone, but you also separate with someone else. We repeat this throughout our life. In fact, this process of encounter and separation is part of our daily life.

Today’s song is sad. It describes a man’s desperate heart that lost his lover. I composed this song fully based on my imagination. Continue reading

Mémoire de toi : Remembering Friendship

Just after high school, I left Korea and went to France to continue my studies there.

At first, I was just excited to be in an unknown location where nobody knows me. I couldn’t speak French at that time. Everyday was an adventure, with lots of things to discover. All the things were new there.

We hear that everything in the world has two sides, and we all know that we can’t have only good things. On the other side of that pleasure et adventure, there was loneliness. In fact, this was the first time in my life that I understood what loneliness means. As time went by, I became familiar with my life in France, and I started missing my family and my coutry. Simple pleasures according to a French philosopher, André Comte-Sponville

andre comte-sponvilleIn an Air France magazine, I found an interesting interview with André Comte-Sponville, a French materialist, author, and philosopher. He talks about his favourite subject, what simple pleasures are. He tells us his definition of simple pleasures and where to find them. Here I summed up the interview for you. I believe that it will help you to understand better this concept and to live your daily life better in simplicity.

The philosopher finds simple pleasures in the most ordinary things – eating when he is hungry, taking a walk, gardening …

According to him, simplicity is not about having, but about being. It is existence itself and the lightest of virtues. Thus, simplicity means what’s natural; act without lie, exaggeration, and also what we are without pretending, playing a role. He defines that the opposite of simple is what is false, not what is complex. Continue reading
